Equality NC statement on recent events in Dallas, Minnesota and Baton Rouge
Equality North Carolina deeply mourns the loss of black lives in Minnesota, Baton Rouge, and the countless other cities across the nation where these killings have taken place. We must push that we stand united together. No group of people should be singled out and marginalized. We MUST value black lives and push to ensure that #blacklivesmatter.
We also mourn the loss of life in Dallas, where innocent men and women in uniform were senselessly killed. In the wake of Orlando, we are reminded now more than ever that violence is never the answer. Law enforcement has stood to protect LGBT people in our safe spaces. Our hearts and thoughts are with the entire nation as we seek a way forward to diminish violence in all its forms.
