Equality NC's Crystal Richardson Selected for HRC Women & Leadership Retreat

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 4, 2014) -- Equality NC's Crystal Richardson has been selected to participate in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)'s prestigious Women & Leadership retreat, January 22-25, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

This learning retreat is the core of HRC’s Equality Leaders for the 21st Century program, which was launched in 2009 to build a powerful community of women to lead HRC as board members and steering committee leaders.

According to the announcement, "Women & Leadership is a personally transformative community-learning process for leaders" and "based on the belief articulated by Gandhi and acted on by many pivotal figures in the history of social change – that 'We must be the change we want to see in the world.'"

Richardson will be among an impressive cohort of 24 participants – all HRC women-identified members and volunteers who come from diverse walks of life and who are ready to take the next steps in their leadership journey.

Richardson, who lives in Charlotte, N.C., joined the Equality NC staff in April 2014 as its first Freedom Moral Summer Organizer -- dedicated to a first-of-its-kind partnership with the NAACP. The experienced advocate for pro-equality issues led Equality NC's efforts during the NAACP's nationally-recognized Freedom Moral Summer campaign. Today, she leads our advocacy and outreach efforts as the organization's first-ever Director of Advocacy and Outreach.
